Boran's Notes
Cherbourg as the best-case scenario, I was prepared to stop short at Barfleur or Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (if wind from Northwest) or even Fecamp in case of very calm wind.
In the morning I waited until wind set in, so I was not super confident that this would be an efficient day. But around noon the wind was actually quite useful and propelled Maru to speeds of 9-10 knots.
After 8 hours of sailing I treated myself to a dinner while almost heaving to, and not making progress for 90 minutes. By then it was clear that I would continue to Cherbourg, but arrive in darkness anyway.
Entering the grand rade and petit rade was easy even at night.
